GREEK JEWELLERY OF THE BENAKI MUSEUM

Exhibition of the whole jewellery collection of the museum from the Neolithic age to recent years
Year: 1999
Photography: Nicoletta Menti

The exhibition displayed jewellery from the Neolithic era to modern times in 200 sq.m. of the Museum’s temporary exhibition space. Two hundred representative exhibits solely from the Benaki Museum collections were exhibited in eight chronological sections. A special showcase was designed for each group of jewellery, highlighting its particular merits. Each chronological section was represented by a symbol and a colour. Visual material on how the jewellery was used was printed and shown on the floor, to mark visitors’ trajectory through the exhibition as well as how jewellery changed through history.
